OPENING DAY 2017 - THANK YOU!!!
Enjoy the slideshow above featuring some photos shared with us by Cindy Cabanas State Farm Insurance, a big supporter of BYB.
The Beaumont Youth Baseball and Softball Board of Directors would like to thank everyone for making our Opening Day Carnival 2017 a great one. We had a great turnout of teams with fun carnival booths for the kids, and we appreciate the TIME AND EFFORT those teams gave toward their booths. We saw very creative games, handmade and homemade designs with a lot of thought put into them, and we are so grateful to you for that. A big giant thank you to the kids and parents who we saw hanging out at their booths helping them run smoothly, with smiles on their faces, making the day a fun and memorable one for every kid who bought a ticket and played a game.
Thank you to The House of Portraits, and we'd also like to thank those who came out as vendors, like State Farm Insurance, Cindy Cabanas, Great Clips for Hair, Hernandez Airbrushing, Mama Mayhem, Soto Gloves, Tim Howard's Kettle Corn and more! We thank you for your support of our league.
To the volunteers who gave hours toward making our event run smoothly, we thank you! To Crystal, Shawnna, Sheila, Jessica and Alexis - we placed you in some busy spots to help us out, and we thank you for taking care of business! Also, to the volunteers from the National Junior Honor Society of Mountain View Middle School - we appreciate the time you gave to our league and your hard work.
Our BYB events wouldn't run smoothly with you YOU - the FAMILIES who gather at our park to make our kids baseball and softball experiences great. We thank the coaches and the team moms, and most of all, we thank those patient, funny, easily-pleased and ready-for-fun kids that make up our league. This is all for you and we hope you have a great 2017 Spring Season filled with fun memories, new friendships, and growth in your abilities in this sport we all love.

Spring 2016 Coach of the Year
"Keith Short Award" Recipient: Jay Leal
Announced at closing day ceremonies, May 21, 2016, this year's "Keith Short Award" for coaching went to Coach Jay Leal who coached the Mustang Mariners this season and many other teams in the past few years. Congrats to an outstanding coach! We are honored to have such great volunteers step up to lead teams here at BYB, and we have to celebrate those top-notch coaches! Congratulations, Jay Leal!
(The award is named for former BYB coach Keith Short, who exemplified the qualities we at BYB are looking and hoping for in our coaches. Coach Short was the first recipient of the award in 2011, followed by coaches Ed Gallup, Mike Hilburn, Frank Ortiz, Ronnie Collins and Jay Leal.)

We at BYB want to give a big THANKS to those who made the Meet Your Manager Pancake Breakfast January 23, 2016 possible: Keith & Julie Short, The Lions Club, Perricone Juices, Mountain View Middle School, and Beaumont First Assembly of God.
We also want to thank everyone who came out to our very first pancake breakfast since the start of online registration and a new computer system, as we patiently navigate this learning curve together! To our players, parents, families, coaches and friends: here's to a great Spring 2016! |
Among the Best in the West!
Congrats to our 2015 8U girls All Stars who came in THIRD place at the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS in Lancaster over Fourth of July weekend. We are so proud of them and wish them well as they head to REGIONALS in San Diego the weekend of July 17-19. They'll be playing teams from this region of the country, from states like Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, etc. to see who is the best of the best in the west! We're so excited for you, girls! This is a FIRST for BYB All Star girls!
Our adorable Beaumont 8U All Stars did it again! They won 15-0 at their game July 17 at Regionals in San Diego, and they were scheduled to go on and of course win more games, but due to weather conditions, the tournament was cancelled, and our girls tied for first. Way to go girls. Not exactly the way you expected a tournament to go, but we are so proud of you! May your love for the game of softball continue to drive you to be instrumental in your future teams!
Above: Our 8U and 12U All Star teams both made it to the State Championship this year. Here they are all together enjoying the opening ceremonies parade in their superhero costumes, representing Beaumont proudly.

There's nothing better than seeing the professional shots of Opening Day gathered by In Action Photography. Enjoy a slideshow of them below! (And remember, if you see some a man or woman on the field with a big camera, paparazzi style, that's Brian and Stephanie from In Action, who try to get to EVERY SINGLE team in the season to capture your kids playing the game we all love. They share many of those photos with us at BYB to make our website that much sweeter, and of course you're able to purchase a few of those shots yourself, too, printed for you to keep! Be sure to check out their sales booth when you see it at Noble Creek Park!)

Family, friends, BYB players, and local law enforcement & fire agencies gathered for a pre-game moment of silence May 2, 2014 on field 6 in remembrance of Shetland Yankees Manager Shaun Jarvis. Balloons were released in his memory by his family, players from his son's team, which he managed, and the opposing team members, and the game went on. We thank those who quickly organized the event, as well as everyone who came out and took time to support his family. BYB is grateful for the time he invested in coaching his team.
Monday, May 5, 2014, before his daughter's softball game, another moment of silence was observed for Mr. Jarvis. Teams from all over the park came in support of his family, and more balloons were released. We at BYB are so touched by the pouring out of support for this BYB family and we thank you all for participating in a display of love and encouragement for his wife and children.
He will be missed.

Closing Day 2014 Highlights:
Our Carnival was a Big Hit!
WOW - We couldn't have asked for a better Opening Day Carnival! Even though we had to push it back two weeks due to rain, the booths were a hit, we had a great crowd, and we had a blast! We saw so many teams working their booths, so many kids having fun, and so many parents and coaches giving their time. We are so thankful to everyone who participated in any way with the Opening Day Carnival of Spring 2014.
But what you really want to know is which teams' booths were chosen as the "BEST BOOTHS" based on judges votes, because those team have won team sweatshirts and need to visit Dodie Carlson at the ballpark any weeknight or Saturday at the BYB office! And the winners are:
Best Booth Winners:
The Frog Catapult Booth (Foal Rockies)
The Water Balloon Dunk Booth (Bronco Angels)
The TNT Balloon Blow Up Booth (8U Alabama)
The Knockdown Jugs/ Baseball Pegs Booth (6U Michigan)
The Home Run Ring Toss (Foal Yankees)
Check out the slideshow below to see how great these booths were!

And about those great booths - they weren't the only booths we loved! There was SO much creativity out there, there were some booths with LONG lines because kids couldn't get enough!!! For that reason, we want to give a mention to the following teams, who made the job of the judges much harder!!!
Honorable Mentions:
The Hit Alone Machine (Pinto7 Dodgers)
The Rain Gutter Regatta (Foal Padres)
The Angry Bird Toss (Shetland Dodgers)
EVERY booth was so much fun, and we loved it. We can't wait to see what you all come up with next year!

Three Stars Shining & Signing
Three Sudden Impact softball players, and former Beaumont Youth Baseball players, signed their letters of intent Thursday night, November 14, 2013 to play for the colleges who have taken an interest in their abilities. Ashley Leffingwell will play at Cal State University San Bernardino, Maryah Cohen will play at Cumberland University in Tennessee, and Kaylee Gemmel will play at Cal State University San Bernardino. The girls are currently playing on the Sudden Impact 18U Gold team and have given many years of their youth to softball. We are proud to have had them play for BYB in the past, and excited to see their future. Way to go, girls. Enjoy the slideshow below.
So Proud of Our Beaumont All Star Teams
Our Beaumont Pony League was well-represented this summer of 2013 as our All Stars played all over the place, in the heat, along with their families and friends who cheered them on - and the 8U allstar girls are still going!!! Why? Because they love it! We are so proud of you, keep up the good work and if you have a great team shot, please send it to us at [email protected] and we'll post it here on the website. Enjoy the pictures we've collected so far! (And thanks for sending them in!)
YOU are kind of a BIG DEAL! Yes, YOU!
We congratulate all players who were honored Closing Day Spring 2013 as champions, All Stars, Most Improved Players or for having the Best Sportsmanship on their team. It's a big deal to be recognized not only for your talent on the field, but for your ATTITUDE on the field and in the dugout. One of our favorites is the Best Sportsmanship award, given to a player on each team in each division from age 7 and up. Displaying good sportsmanship means showing good conduct, respect, and grace while winning or losing. That is something to be proud of. We are so proud of our many players who were recognized for these awards, and the many who quietly and humbly get the job done on the field and maybe have yet to be recognized. We also give a great big congrats to Mike Hilburn, who won the Keith Short Coaching Award for this season. We thank you for your commitment to being a great coach, and we're sure you mean much more to your players than you can know.
Thanks to all the players and families at BYB. You made the 2013 Spring Season great. We are proud to be BYB.

Get Ready for Closing Day!
You won't want to miss Closing Day, Saturday, May 18. We will bring back the DUNK TANK so you can dunk some of your favorite umpires and coaches, we'll have a fun inflatable waterslide to play on (and the weather should be around 80 degrees that day!), great BBQ (the snack bar will be offering a tri-tip special: $6.50 includes a delicious Tri-tip sandwich, cole slaw, beans, corn on the cob, and a drink!), we'll have the shaved ice booth out there, the In Action Photography booth will be set up, Foal games, Stallions games and Championship games will be playing on our fields, and after all that, our Closing Day ceremonies will begin (approximately 4 p.m., but time depends on championships ending), where you'll find out MVPs, All Stars, who has the best sportsmanship, etc.! Bring the kiddos a towel, some sunscreen and let them cool off with their friends on the last day of our season! I plan on being there all day, do you?
Look forward to more info about Closing Day!
Oh and remember, Closing Day there will be a $5 parking fee at Noble Creek, and managers/coaches, PLEASE remember to turn in your gear after your last game. Thanks!

Enjoying Their Freedom
Shetland Dodgers 2012
What a team party! Instead of bringing food to their team party this year, the generous players and families from the Shetland Dodgers were asked to donate items for American Soldiers in Afghanistan. The team collected more than expected, enough for five boxes to be shipped! The items will be shipped to a group of soldiers whose personal items were recently lost in a fire. The donation is a great way for the Shetland Dodgers to let soldiers know how much we appreciate their service, and how much these 5 & 6 year olds love to play ball!
Did YOU have a memorable team party? If so, email a photo to [email protected] and we'll post it here or on our facebook page!

Home Run Derby Results
It was HOME RUN after HOME RUN after HOME RUN Opening Day, March 3, 2012 over on field 5 for the First Annual Power Showcase! Players from different divisions competed during three different sessions, and then the winners from those sessions came back for the championship round at 1:45 p.m. Some of the battles came down to sudden death rounds becuase the batters kept matching each others' home run numbers! Below are pictures of the winners! Congratulations Home Run Hitters!
What a Day!
Here's a HUGE thank you to EVERY SINGLE person who braved the high winds Saturday, March 3, 2012 to help make the Opening Day Carnival a success - from the ladies who kept the flow running smoothly as team pictures were taken on field 2, to the guys all the way over on field 5 orchestrating the Home Run Derby, from the volunteers who sold tickets to hundreds of eager kids wanting to dunk someone, to the high schoolers who assisted at the Bat-a-Thon, and the moms and dads and grandmas and grandpas who helped out at game booths on field 1 and handed out prizes, and from the president who made the tough decisions, and who also made the decision to put a little warm water in the dunk tank, to that guy on the microphone, to the people who volunteered to brave the dunk tank, to the only lady today to brave the dunk tank, to the Team Moms who ran to find an extra hat or jersey for a kid who needed it at the last minute, to the people who turned the hot dogs, and the people who passed them out, and to the people who ate and enjoyed them, to those in the snackbar who worked hard to keep us full and happy, and to the people who picked up trash, and those who answered the questions and helped in any way they could in the BYB office, and from the people who donated prizes and bought or sold tickets, to the people who waited around to see who won at the raffle drawing, and to every single person who came out to Noble Creek Park and added to the Carnival feel we were going for - again, thank YOU!! You all know who you are. Even through tough dusty winds all day, our turnout was great and it was the perfect way to show our appreciation to our players, and to start off a great season of baseball, softball and teeball in Beaumont, California - WITH FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY!! It takes all of us, and Opening Day 2012 was a great example of that. The BYB Board of Directors SINCERELY thanks you for your participation in today's event.
